You will be working as part of the prepress department preparing print-ready artwork to meet with Printer's requirements and our customer's quality expectations.

Qualifications/Experience

• A high degree of fluency in English – both spoken and written
• A high degree of fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese – both spoken and written
• Minimum 2 years experience in retail packaging design / artwork / repro
• Print production and press passing experience
• ESKO software beneficial, but not essential

Duties

• Press-passing in Hong Kong, New Territories or Mainland China
• Understand and follow corporate guidelines precisely
• Check design files and images provided by third party design agencies
• Build artworks to SGS Asia Pacific’s high standards
• Excellent Photoshop / Illustrator (Adobe CS1 and CS2)
• Desk Pack knowledge (Training will be given)

Prepress

• Applying manual trapping to finished artwork
• DeskPack digital trapping to finished artwork (training will be given)
• Outputting digital colours proofs
• Sending out digital files via FTP, CD/DVD or email

Communication

• Assisting the artwork team to improve their skills in Illustrator, Photoshop and PDF
• Printer assistance and support via email or telephone

Quality Control

• Preflight and checking finished prepress-ready artwork
• Checking of press-ready artwork, filling out check-list before release
• Spectrophotometry and LAB colour management

House-keeping

• Weekly back-ups of prepress approved artworks to DVD

Artwork

• Making barcodes
• Assisting artwork studio build simple packaging artworks
• Image correction and cleaning and retouching
• Photoshop clipping paths and transparency

Skills
